Big Walk on PS5

Big Walk launched on PlayStation 5 on 4 August 2026 as a day-one PlayStation Plus Essential monthly game — one of three for August 2026, alongside Signalis and Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition. Metacritic has the PS5 version at 86, generally favourable.

If you subscribe to PS Plus at any tier that includes the monthly games, this is the cheapest way for your group to get into Big Walk, and the claim window closes at the end of the month.

Adding it to your library inside the window is what matters — you do not have to play it in August. It stays accessible while you remain subscribed, which is the standard PS Plus monthly-games arrangement rather than anything specific to this title.

Because Big Walk is online-only with no single-player mode, PS Plus is not just how you get it free, it is also what you need to play it at all on this platform. There is no offline mode to fall back on if a subscription lapses.

Three things get searched for regularly and none of them are real:

No PS4 version. PlayStation 5 only. The official FAQ lists the complete platform set and states “No other platforms are planned at this time.”

No physical copy. Digital only, on every platform.

No split screen or couch co-op. Big Walk has no local multiplayer of any kind. Every player needs their own PS5 (or PC, Mac or Switch 2) and their own copy. House House also recommend against playing in the same physical room, because you would hear each other outside the game’s proximity voice system.

Crossplay is on. A PS5 player can host or join a session with players on Steam, the Mac App Store and Switch 2, in any combination. The DualSense is the input; there is no mouse support on this platform.

Joining works through the PSN friends list. If you and the host are PSN friends, their active session appears automatically. Otherwise the host shares a join code — which works across platforms and is found in the corner of the host menu before launch, or under Session Details in the in-game menu afterwards.

Trophies. The PS5 release has trophies. Steam’s twelve achievements, with global unlock rates, are documented on the achievements page — the sets are typically equivalent in content, though this site only publishes the Steam figures because those are the ones with public statistics behind them.

Hosting from PS5 is fine. There is no documented restriction on which platform can host, and no published performance disadvantage. The rules that apply to any host apply here: start the session first, and expect everyone to disconnect when you stop.
