House House describe this category in one line of their own press material: “Walkie-talkies, laser pointers, binoculars, megaphones, flares, whiteboards (?), cowbells (??), a big golden head (???) and more.” The escalating question marks are theirs, and they are the honest summary of how much detail exists — the studio named these items and explained almost none of them.
Backpacks are confirmed separately by the Steam achievement Big Pack (“Wear a backpack”), which 27.8% of players have unlocked, and backpack frames are visible on characters in the official June 2026 screenshots.

What they change
The tools are not upgrades or stat modifiers. In a game whose entire mechanical spine is “can these two people hear each other right now”, they are the levers on that question.
Range. Proximity chat fades with distance and is muffled by walls. A walkie-talkie removes the distance limit — House House’s description of the voice system names it directly, and text chat travels through it on the same rules. A megaphone is listed among the same set of contact tools.
Pointing. When talking is not an option, you point. A laser pointer does that at distances where nobody can see your arm.
Position. Flares mark where something is without requiring you to stay there.
Carrying. Tools are physical objects in the world, not inventory entries. The Steam description’s own example is stealing a friend’s binoculars and kicking them into the ocean — which means possession is a state your group has to track, and losing something is possible.
Wearing. The backpack occupies a worn slot rather than a carried one, and a separate hip slot exists — the achievement Big Help (“Wear something on your hip”) is unlocked by 6.3% of players.
What is not on this list, and why
Several Big Walk wikis publish larger item lists, including names like holster, gourd, key piece, field radio, signal flags, buoy, telescope and volleyball. None of those names appear in House House’s press kit, the Steam store description, the official FAQ, the Nintendo or PlayStation listings, or any achievement string.
They may well be real — a name has to come from somewhere, and datamining a shipped game is not hard. But a name with no published source cannot be verified, cannot be corrected if it is wrong, and would sit on this site as a URL that claims more certainty than exists. So this page lists nine items and says so.
If House House publish more — in a patch note, a developer post, or an FAQ update — the list grows and the verification date at the bottom of each page changes with it.
