Four Big Walk characters on a granite headland above the sea. One carries a green field radio, one wears a backpack frame with a large red buoy strapped to it, and one has a yellow device on its hip (June 2026 build)

Big Walk Backpack

A worn slot rather than a carried item, confirmed by its own Steam achievement. A separate hip slot exists and is four times rarer.

The backpack is the one item on this site’s tool list that does not come from the press kit. It comes from the game itself: the Steam achievement Big Pack — “Wear a backpack”, unlocked by 27.8% of players as of 5 August 2026. Backpack frames are also clearly visible on characters in the official June 2026 screenshots, including one carrying a large red buoy on an external frame.

That makes it better documented than most of the named tools, because an achievement string is a first-party statement about a mechanic rather than a marketing list.

What is confirmed

It is worn, not carried. The achievement says “wear”, and the game distinguishes that from the carried tools — you can steal a friend’s binoculars, but the backpack has its own verb.

It is not automatic. 27.8% is a low enough figure that wearing one is a thing you have to find and do, not something the game equips you with. For comparison, 81.5% of players have crossed the drawbridge and 34.9% have visited the map — so the backpack sits between those two milestones in how commonly players encounter it.

It has visible external capacity. The official screenshot shows a frame carrying a large object, which is consistent with the backpack being a way to move things that would otherwise occupy your hands.

Unpublished: how many slots it has, whether it is required for anything, whether it can be passed between players, and whether different backpacks exist.

The hip slot

There is a second worn slot, confirmed by a second achievement: Big Help — “Wear something on your hip”, at 6.3%.

Two things follow from the wording. First, “something” rather than a named item — House House did not commit to what goes there, which is why this site does not publish a name for it either. Several fan wikis call it a holster; that word does not appear in any first-party source.

Second, the achievement is called Big Help. In a game where the accessibility notes mention that “some items in the game can improve accessibility, such as highlighting interactive items,” an achievement named Help for wearing something on your hip is suggestive — but suggestive is all it is, and this page will not build a mechanic out of a pun.
